Isolation

The separation between a BDA's input (donor) and output (coverage) signals measured in decibels, critical for preventing oscillation.

BDA/ERRCS Glossary Term(888) 508-3001 ext. 3000

Definition

Isolation is the measure of separation between the donor antenna receiving outdoor signals and the indoor coverage antennas. Expressed in decibels (dB), adequate isolation must exceed the system gain to prevent oscillation. Achieving isolation requires proper antenna placement, directional antennas, and sometimes physical shielding.
